Sunlight, Where Art Thou?
I am all about warm weather. Cold wind and this whole ‘dark by 5 pm’ thing isn’t working for me.
I am taking solace in the fact that as I write this we are about two weeks away from the shortest day of the year in terms of sunlight. After that, it’s slowly creeping back up!
Our DryFins team all live in the southeast US, where we are blessed to have surprise days of warmth in the winter pop up. Like today – which is 70 degrees! These are the kind of days that help me get through the winter doldrums. Here are some of the things I do to combat those feelings:
- Plan a trip. Looking at pictures of some place I haven’t been and coordinating all the logistics gives me something to look forward to.
- Get together with friends for a good meal. I’m working on a pot luck dinner where everyone has to bring a recipe their grandmother made. Hoping for some really odd jelly mold salads…
- Do something new and crazy. Two years ago I got roped into a 60 mile relay run. It was cold and dark but the training I had to do kept me motivated and when the event finally happened in February, spring felt like it was just around the corner.
I am longing for a float on the river near my house. Here’s to us all making it until spring pops up and the warmth is back!
