Three Words in a Time Machine

There’s a meme going around on social media you may have seen:

If you could connect to your 18 year old self and say three words, what would they be?

Advice from the future.  Not sure how my 18 year old self would have responded to his older version.  Probably ask if we owned a cool fast car.

I’ve gotten more reflective this year.  Probably the result of having a milestone birthday back in September.  But I have given this a lot of thought.

• Do I tell myself to skip dating the girl who broke my heart in college?
• Do I tell myself to bet on the Pats in Super Bowls in the 2000’s?
• Do I tell myself to just move to downtown Atlanta and skip that awful house in the suburbs?

I don’t really want to change the past, because those experiences got me to where I am now.  All those inputs resulted in the current output.

I decided my three words of advice would be:

Punt before 40.

I had a career for a lot of years pre-Dry Guy that I ended up doing for a bit too long.  Getting out earlier would have been healthier for my mind and body.
