Prep for the Polar Plunge
In Support of Special Olympics Virginia
Chances are that if you live by a body of water (or just love the water in general), you’ve probably heard of The Polar Plunge®. It’s an infamous event that takes place every winter—a bone-chilling, potentially scream-inducing plunge that raises money for a charitable organization like the Make-A-Wish Foundation or Special Olympics. To participate, people dress in their swimsuits and take a quick, frigid dip….basking in the cold for only seconds before turning right back around. Although the event takes place in numerous countries, the U.S. hosts several of them throughout the winter months in states like Illinois, Virginia, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Colorado. But this year? Things are a bit different...and it’s much easier to join in on the fun. Check out the virtual event that’s hosted by Special Olympics Virginia!
Since large crowds of people are unable to gather right now, The Polar Plunge® launched the “plunge it your way” campaign to promote video submissions. In support of Special Olympics Virginia, you can plunge however you'd like—whether you’re by yourself or with a small team, jump into a neighbor’s pool or a kids’ splash pad—just get creative! Once you decide how you want to execute, take photos and videos and post them to social media using the hashtag #plungeyourway. All of the pomp and circumstance will take place on Saturday, February 6th during a virtual celebration, so tune in and see if your submission is shown! Interested in gathering more details about registering and fundraising? Check out their event page here.
On a final note, if you decide to take the plunge, don’t be fooled—cold water DOES NOT protect against chafe. But DryFins’ does. Prepare for the big event by stepping up your trunk game and browse our collection of plunge-worthy, chafe-free trunks for men and boys. Don’t forget—when you submit your plunge on social media, be sure to also add the hashtag #chafeFREEzing to let us know what you’re wearing!
